Staging stunts for a pre-recorded commercial is one thing. Having the balls to drive up a set of stairs and through a glass window on live broadcast TV (in a prototype Chrysler, of all things) and in front of a live audience is another level.

The following year, the introduction of the 1994 Dodge Ram was pretty dramatic. Don’t remember who it was doing the intro, probably Bob himself, but he was speaking at a podium in front of a truck under a cover. When he finished speaking and presented the new Ram, the truck dropped from the ceiling crushing the silhouette under the sheet.

Used to be able to find that video, but my google-fu is failing me.

Tried to edit, but too late.

I remember this being way more dramatic.

Apparently the truck was on a forklift that intentionally had a leaky hydraulic cylinder to make it drop faster but still controlled.
